In 2010 Curtis Tyrell, then Director of Agronomy at Medinah Country Club, and Rees Jones undertook a renovation of Medinah Country Club Course 3 in preparation for the Ryder Cup in 2012. Removing trees, changing some holes and replacing the greens, tees and fairways with a blend of 007 and SR 1119 enabled the superior performance of the course in spite of a hard summer with rainfall and heat. Now 7 years later the course still looks immaculate and the other two courses have been renovated with the same blend of bentgrasses. The excellent management, from Steven Cook and his team, with Seed Research of Oregon genetics will be on display as the best players compete for the FedEx Cup.
