Native to the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific coast of North America, adapted to similar locations; grows to 3'; very fine, bluish basal leaves; best suited to deep, fertile silty and clayey soils, not uncommon in poorer soils; tolerant of weakly alkaline, saline and acidic soils; can survive with as little as 10” rainfall in cool climates; grows well at higher altitudes; once matured can be very competitive.

Drill seeded to 1/4 ” to 1/2” at 2–3 pounds PLS/acre (use 50–100% more seed if broadcast seeding). 450,000 seeds/pounds.

Germination in less than 21 days, depending on altitude and soil temperatures.
