Naturalized and adapted throughout the transition zone, south into Mexico; grows to 14"; excellent heat, salt and drought tolerance; well suited to all fertile soils; moderate to poor cold hardiness depending on variety; moderate to poor shade tolerance; stoloniferous and rhizomatous, excellent soil stabilization; common turfgrass throughout adapted range; good forage value – hay and grazing; vegetatively propagated hybrids available (C. dactylon x C. transvaalensis).
Drill seeded no deeper than 1/4" at 10 pounds hulled PLS/acre or 15 pounds unhulled PLS/acre; higher seeding rate for turf (to 3lbs./1,000 ft 2). 1,300,000 to 2,000,000 seeds/pound.
